97L, Infrared (colored), 8:30 PM EST. The center of 97L is currently over Haiti but is maintaining a good amount of convection. 97L should be impacting Florida with in 24 hours. Most models predict that 97L will be a tropical depression by tomorrow afternoon and possibly a tropical storm by tomorrow night. 97L needs to be watched closely due to the fact that it’s starting out in the same area Hurricane Katrina did in 2005 and the predicted track of 97L is extremely similar to Katrina’s. The NHC gives 97L a 40% chance of developing.
